Many biologists maintain that life’s origin, design, and diversity are best explained as the outworking of evolutionary processes. As evidence for this view, biologists point to the shared biological and biochemical features possessed by organisms that naturally group together. Evolutionary biologists interpret homologous structures as evolutionarily derived from ancestral features possessed by the common ancestor of the group.

In this talk, I will explain why shared features are best understood as the outworking of common design, not common descent. But, I will go one step further and offer reasons why God created life using shared designs—discoverability.
