Reasons to Believe
Vice President of Research and Apologetics
Biochemist Fazale “Fuz” Rana writes and speaks extensively about evidence for creation emerging from biochemistry, genetics, human origins, and synthetic biology. As vice president of research and apologetics at Reasons to Believe (RTB), he is dedicated to communicating to skeptics and believers alike the powerful scientific case for God’s existence and the Bible’s reliability.
Rana converted to Christianity during graduate school. Though Rana had initially embraced the evolutionary paradigm, he gradually drew the conclusion that only a Creator’s involvement could explain the elegance of biochemical systems.
When his fiancée’s pastor encouraged him to read the Bible, Rana took up the challenge. His readings led him to the Sermon on the Mount, where Christ’s instructions to his disciples to pursue right attitudes as well as right behavior forced Rana to recognize his own inability to keep these standards and, thus, his need for a Savior. The death of his Muslim father some years later helped Rana appreciate the necessity of evangelism and Christian apologetics and led to his joining the RTB team in 1999.
Today, Rana addresses science-faith hot topics through books—including Creating Life in the Lab, and his latest book Humans 2.0: Scientific, Philosophical, and Theological Perspectives on Transhumanism—as well as articles, videos, podcasts, and speaking engagements. He has addressed audiences at more than 500 universities, churches, and conferences around the world. He also holds an adjunct professor position at both Biola University and Southern Evangelical Seminary.
